The letterforms in the famous quote are
altered to recreate the experience of being illiterate.

CONVERSE REDESIGN

Converse has traditionally been one
of the most ubiquitous names in footwear and
one of the oldest shoemakers in the world.
This unfortunately has left them looking stale
and out of date. The redesign takes the burgeoning
fashion and art scene of New-Rave and grounds it
in the art works and styles of German Expressionism.
The patterns mash together paintings by Kandinsky,
leopard skin and neon day-glo.

CTRL/ALT/DEL MAGAZINE

The keystroke Control + Alt+ Delete
in a computer environment elicits certain
reactions: an escape from a frozen environment,
a time to restart, and an opportunity
to re-asses what came before.

HEARST TYPEFACE

The design of the type is inspired by the on and off binary
of digital type interpreted literally within the frame of the building itself.
Norman Foster and Partners made use of the economically and environmentally
friendly triangular design to accomplish the most out of the least
amount of material. The typeface reiterates that intention by emerging
through a limited amount of trianglar shapes that remain consistent
throughout the course of the alphabetÕs design. Each letterform is drawn
from an original photograph taken from the standpoint of a viewer
looking up at the building from street level and each character calls
to mind the scale and size of the building as well.

GRAPHIS DESIGN ANNUAL 2009 COVER DESIGN

The letter "D" type treatment designed for the 2009
Design Annual was inspired by Josef Muller Brockman's
Beethoven concert poster. The staggered concentric circles
serve well for the round edge of the capital "D".

PRINT MAGAZINE ILLUSTRATION

Illustration in October 2008 issue to explain
graphically the process that the Center for Urban Pedagogy
goes through to produce work. The initial idea developed
from creating individual wild postings that would be put in
an urban environment. The poster is major source
of information in the city.

GANG OF FOUR--NATURAL'S NOT IN IT--TYPE ANIMATION

The idea for this film came from an exercise
in deliberately mispelling words. The phoenetic sounds
of the lyrics are emphasized by the text. It attempts
to raise questions of what we hear and internalize
while listening to music

ON THE ROAD--MOVIE TRAILER

A fictitional movie trailer for a film
adaptation of Jack Kerouac's seminal work
"On the Road." The film mashes together images
from the American counterculture with speed and
verocity to capture the sensation and emotion of both
Kerouac's experience of writing and living the
events in the novel
